GE and AECC or SEEC Instructions:

UG First Semester 2019

As per the new syllabus adopted by Presidency University in 2018-19, the UG (undergraduate) students of all the department study TWO CORE courses, ONE AECC (Ability Enhancement Compulsory Course), and ONE GE (Generic Elective) course in their FIRST and SECOND semester.

At the beginning of each semester, the students need to choose and register for GE and AECC courses in a particular time window provided by the university. After the courses commence, the students are also given an opportunity to change the course within a particular time period. The students must stick to the registration and change schedule published on the university website. No request for registration/ change can be entertained after the stipulated dates.

The entire registration process is done ONLINE. It is recommended to use Computer System instead of mobile to apply for registration/ change of GE/ AECC courses. To ensure that your registration is done, crosscheck your name in the list of applicants.

AECC (Ability Enhancement Compulsory Course): 4 credits

For the students of natural and mathematical sciences, Environmental Studies is the compulsory AECC in the UG first semester.

For the students of social sciences and humanities, MIL (Modern Indian Language)/ English Communication is the compulsory AECC in the UG first semester. The students of social sciences and humanities are requested to choose ANY ONE of the following courses offered by various departments in Odd semester 2019:

GE (Generic Elective): 6 credits

‘Elective’ means a course which is chosen by a student. ‘Generic Elective’ is a course to be chosen by a student from a discipline/subject OTHER THAN his/her major department, with an intention to seek exposure beyond his/her major discipline/ subject. The list of GE (Generic Elective) courses offered by various departments for UG FIRST SEMESTER for Odd Semester 2019 is given below. The UG FIRST SEMESTER students are requested to choose ANY ONE of these courses.

UG Third Semester 2019

SEC (Skill Enhancement Course): 4 credits

The UG students need to study THREE CORE courses, ONE SEC (Skill Enhancement Course) and ONE GE (Generic Elective) in their THIRD and FOURTH semester.

Skill Enhancement Courses are value-based and/or skill-based and are aimed at providing hands-on-training, competencies, skills, etc. offered by the main discipline/subject of study. This subject is beyond the purview of Post Publication Review.

At the beginning of each semester, they need to choose and register for SEC course in a particular time window provided by the university. The students must stick to the registration schedule published on the university website. No request for registration can be entertained after the stipulated dates.

The entire registration process is done ONLINE. It is recommended to use Computer System instead of mobile to apply for registration of SEC subjects.

The list of SEC subjects offered by various departments for UG THIRD semester in Odd Semester 2019 is given below. The UG THIRD SEMESTER students are requested to choose ANY ONE of these courses from their respective honours departments.

Timeline for ODD Semester 2019:

The AECC/ GE registration for ODD Semester 2019 will commence from 11.00 am of 5th August 2019. The students shall register latest by 5.00 pm of 19th August 2019.

The students can also change their AECC/ GE course till 19th August 2019. No changes will be allowed after this period.

All the students should download their AECC/ GE registration card between 31st August 2019 and 17th September 2019, keep a copy of it with themselves and submit another copy to their respective (major) departmental coordinator by 17th September 2019.
